Klitgaarden was built for private means in the summer of 1986 as the first Square Dance Center in Europe.

In Klitgaarden there is a dance floor measuring 21,500 square feet (200 m²). The floor is a parquet floor laid on springy joists, which makes the floor extremely pleasant to dance on – especially when dancing New Style Square Dance.

Klitgaarden also has a cosy room with an open fireplace, a large balcony with a view over the dance hall, first-rate modern sound equipment, café area, pool table and a Square Dance and Western store with a large selection of square dance, line dance and western clothes and outfit.

Moreover there is of course both changing and bathing facilities.
