Linedancing in Klitgaarden

In short, Line Dance takes place in lines (hence the name) and you dance individually to the absolutely newest and hottest country hits.

There is lots of high spirits, boot stamping and good exercise in the dances, which are both easy to learn and incredibly fun to take part in. Once you have learned the dances, you can dance them wherever genuine country music or country-rock music is played.

How Line Dance came to Denmark

From USA to Aalborg
In USA Line Dance was introduced with a vengeance in the country environment in 1992, and from the very beginning Dansk Square Dance in Klitgaarden was right in the forefront. The first year Henny Klitgaard introduced some of the most popular Line Dances such as "Achy Breaky Heart" in connection with some Square Dance Workshops.
But very soon it was evident for Henny Klitgaard that Line Dance was not only to be a one-off phenomenon, or something you could dance occasionally as a kind of party dance.
She therefore immediately set up special classes in Line Dance, and line dancers have swarmed in since, so that approximately 400 line dancers now dance in Klitgaarden.

From Aalborg to Northern Jutland
Via Klitgaarden's Line Dance classes the idea and the affection for Line Dance has grown especially in Northern Jutland through the established Square Dance Clubs, as many of them have taken in Line Dance in their teaching program.
There are also clubs however, that solely dance Line Dance.

The 4th of July is celebrated in the Rebild National Park in Denmark as the only place outside USA.
In connection with the 4th of July celebrations in 1994 Dansk Square Dance presented Line Dance together with the American/Danish country queen Tamra Rosanes. At that occasion it was evident that the American guests were astonished that the craze that raged USA was in Denmark (i.e. Aalborg) simultaneously.

Line Dance today and in the future
Today Line Dance have become established and has come to stay. Henny Klitgaard has a direct hotline to USA which enables her to constantly being able to present the very latest Line Dance hits at the same time they are introduced in USA. In 1996 she participated in a big Line Dance Festival in Palm Springs.

Free trial lesson
In Klitgaarden it is of course free of charge to try and dance Line Dance for anybody, who would like to experience the fun and excitement of dancing to the very hottest country hits.
